A Gujarati Mandap. 

Offers you a unique work of art – a piece of history – a joy. Traditionally given as a blank piece of cloth to a bride upon her engagement this mandap has been sewn by her in preparation for her wedding day. It’s an embroidered story where she ‘tells’ us about her faith, her life, likes and dislikes, ambitions and her hopes and dreams for the future. On completion it would have been hung, as a canopy above her and her groom during part of the wedding ceremony. It was often then folded away in brown paper, popped into a trunk and forgotten about. How fortunate we are to enjoy these stunning works of art.

We were originally selling to schools with an eye for something special, we are now passing them on to prospective parents for the nursery, to God Parents for a christening and to those wishing to buy something different and special for birthday and wedding presents. Surprise surprise interior designers and collectors are on our list of those buying from us too! 

If you really love fabric and appreciate the art of embroidery you might want to come and choose your own special piece (beware  they are difficult to walk away from!) otherwise we'll select one for you.

Payment Methods

Orders and purchases can be made online using a credit/debit card or by downloading an order form and sending it together with your cheque for the appropriate amount.

Local Authorities, state or independent schools, authority nurseries, public organisations or registered charities may also order goods online and pay for them through their standard payment method on receipt of our invoice. During the checkout process you are able to choose the payment method that is applicable to you. For all teachers purchasing goods, please remember that VAT is reclaimable on school purchases.
